Lazarus House is a centre of hospitality and a base for Sister Susan Moran to do outreach to people living on the street in the downtown Toronto area.
The House operates as a supportive community for women and serves women who are recovering from addictions and health setbacks, as well as providing assistance to women needing a temporary place to stay.
Lazarus House also serves as a place of refuge and many drop in for a meal or an overnight stay. Through simple acts of hospitality, occasions for shared meaning, and innovative approaches to community building, Lazarus House has created a place that helps individuals struggling through periods of poverty, isolation, inadequate housing and loneliness. It is hoped that Lazarus House will become a working model of community for a more compassionate City of Toronto.
